Our Village Council

The Village Council is the governing body of My Hair My Health PDX. Grounded in our belief that healing happens in community, the Council is composed primarily of Black women leaders with lived experience and deep roots in public health, education, nonprofit leadership, and community advocacy.

The Village Council provides strategic direction and fiduciary oversight while ensuring that our mission, values, and programs remain accountable to the communities we serve. Council members help guide organizational priorities, approve programs and partnerships, support fundraising and sustainability efforts, and uphold strong governance and ethical standards.

More than a board, the Village Council serves as stewards and ambassadors of our work—bringing community voice into decision-making and helping My Hair My Health PDX remain a trusted, culturally grounded space of healing, connection, and collective care for Black women and their families.
